Overview

Miller Brothers Staffing is looking for a Health Safety Environment (HSE) Technician to join a growing construction team in Stafford, VA. This role is responsible for promoting and ensuring workplace safety through compliance with corporate, federal, and state safety policies. The HSE Technician will play a vital role in training, inspections, and field safety support.

Responsibilities

Conduct safety observations, inspections, audits, and training needs assessments.

Assist operations with risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and hazard controls.

Prepare and provide OSHA, MSHA, and DOT documentation (e.g., hazcom, rigging, cranes, excavation, scaffolds).

Develop training materials tailored to site-specific hazards.

Lead new hire orientation, toolbox talks, safety flashes, and monthly training modules.

Support subcontractor safety compliance, including Safe Starts.

Perform incident investigations and post-accident drug screens.

Participate in morning huddles, project planning meetings, and dynamic site stretching.

Provide safety expertise and equipment support to project teams.

Coordinate OSHA and MSHA inspections and related training.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in HSE/Safety or related field with 0–3 years of experience in a safety role; OR

No degree with 1–3 years of safety experience in heavy civil construction.

Valid driver’s license required.

Skills & Knowledge

Ability to travel overnight or long distances as needed.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work under deadlines and pressure.

Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations preferred.

Detail-oriented with willingness to learn and adapt.
