Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly pragmatic and hands-on HSE Manager Oceania to drive our Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) strategy across Australia and New Zealand. In this critical leadership role, you will champion a proactive, high-performance safety culture, providing strategic direction while ensuring hands-on support and practical implementation across our diverse sites. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative and corporate standards, leveraging innovation to enhance HSEQ performance, and integrating environmental stewardship into all regional operations.
Strategic & Pragmatic Leadership: Drive a proactive, high-performance safety culture by providing strategic direction and robust governance, ensuring hands-on support and pragmatic implementation for full compliance with all HSE legislation and corporate policies across AU & NZ.Continuous Improvement & Risk Reduction: Embed continuous improvement within our HSE management systems, systematically reducing risk exposure through practical, site-level initiatives and effective controls, fostering an environment where safety is paramount. This includes leading the regional rollout and compliance of HSE policies and frameworks, coaching site leaders, ensuring ISO45001 and ISO14001 adherence, identifying operational risks, conducting incident investigations, and facilitating audits.Global & Regional Integration: Act as a critical link between regional HSE initiatives and global corporate HSE strategy, ensuring the adoption of global best practices and contributing regional insights, always with an eye on local applicability and practical impact.Innovation & Digital Transformation: Champion the adoption of innovative HSE technologies and methodologies to enhance safety performance, efficiency, and predictive capabilities, driving their practical deployment and effective utilization across our sites. This involves tracking, reporting, and analyzing regional HSE performance data.Environmental Stewardship & Reporting: Drive sustainable HSE practices, ensuring environmental stewardship and social responsibility are integrated into all regional operations, aligning with corporate sustainability goals. Oversee regional Quality and Environmental management systems and coordinate Workers Compensation and Return to Work processes.QualificationsEducation: Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferred), Certified Lead Auditor for ISO45001 (and preferably ISO14001).Personal Attributes and Working Style: Highly pragmatic and hands-on leader, able to translate strategy into tangible results, proven leadership and people management skills with a 'lead by example' and 'boots on the ground' mentality, high-level stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, excellent verbal and written communication, strategic thinker with proficiency in: Results Orientation, Future Orientation, Leading Self & Others, Cooperation, Communication, Innovation & Foresight in HSE, Global HSE Acumen & Collaboration.Experience and Know-How: Minimum 8 years of experience in HSE roles (at least 3 years managerial) within a multi-site, high-risk environment, in-depth knowledge of relevant Australian legislation and regulatory requirements, extensive practical experience in environmental management systems and corporate sustainability frameworks, demonstrated ability to leverage digital transformation, IoT, AI, or advanced analytics for enhancing HSE performance, with a clear understanding of how to implement these in an operational setting.Others: Willingness for extensive regional travel across Australia and New ZealandAdditional InformationYour Benefits
