Role Overview

The HSE Manager will lead Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities during the design phase of an FPSO project. This role ensures compliance with international standards, local regulations, and client requirements, embedding safety and environmental considerations into engineering deliverables and project execution plans.

Key Responsibilities

HSE Leadership

Develop and implement the HSE Management Plan for the FPSO design phase. Provide guidance to engineering teams on safety-in-design principles. Promote a strong HSE culture across all project stakeholders.

Design Safety

Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., ISO, API, IMO), and regulatory requirements. Conduct HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and other risk assessments during design reviews. Integrate safety and environmental considerations into layout, equipment selection, and process design.

Regulatory & Client Interface

Liaise with classification societies and regulatory bodies for design approvals. Ensure alignment with client HSE expectations and contractual obligations.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare HSE deliverables such as Safety Case, Environmental Impact Assessments, and Design Risk Registers. Monitor and report HSE performance metrics to project leadership.

Training & Awareness

Conduct HSE workshops for design teams. Ensure competency development for safety-critical roles. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or related discipline. Minimum 10 years of HSE experience in offshore oil & gas projects, with at least 5 years in FPSO design or similar. Strong knowledge of international HSE standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and offshore regulations. Experience in safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills Familiarity with environmental compliance for offshore projects. Ability to influence design decisions to improve safety outcomes. Proficiency in risk management tools and software.
