HR Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Team Lead to join our HR department. This key leadership role will provide oversight of the HR Team’s workload, support the Executive HR Manager, and play a vital role in driving policy, compliance, employee relations guidance, and workforce strategy across the organisation. You will also work closely with leadership teams and union representatives to ensure a collaborative and commercially aware HR function.
Key Responsibilities
+ Leadership & Team Oversight: Provide day-to-day direction and support to the HR team, ensuring effective workload management and delivery of HR services.
+ Audit & Compliance: Lead on ASATs (internal HR audits) and ensure robust evidence is in place to demonstrate HR compliance.
+ Reporting & Metrics: Take ownership of HR KPI reporting and provide regular performance updates to the Executive HR Manager.
+ Managerial Support: Act as Deputy for the Executive HR Manager when required.
+ Employee Relations: Provide expert guidance on employee relations (ER) matters, supporting the HR team in case handling.
+ Legal & Policy Guidance: Keep the team updated on employment law and legislative changes, maintaining legal compliance in all practices.
+ Change & Strategy: Drive corporate HR initiatives and support organisational change projects in alignment with strategic goals.
+ Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective working relationships with Executive Managers and Union Representatives.
+ Learning & Development: Contribute to workforce planning and learning and development activities.
+ Policy Management: Maintain and update the HR policy register, ensuring policies are reviewed and communicated as required.
+ Disciplinary & Grievance: Support the investigation and resolution of formal HR cases, including disciplinary and grievance matters.
Essential:
+ Proven experience in a senior HR generalist or HR team lead role
+ Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
+ Experience managing complex employee relations cases
+ Confident in stakeholder engagement at all levels
+ Commercially aware with a strategic mindset
+ High attention to detail, strong organisational and reporting skills
+ Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
Desirable:
+ CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above)
+ Experience working in unionised environments
+ Familiarity with HR systems and reporting tools (e.g., Teamwork, HRIS)
