Description HR Specialist (Temporary-to-Full-Time) — Non-Profit | Spring, TX Schedule: Onsite for first 90 days; then hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days WFH) About the Role Our client, a mission-driven non-profit in Spring, TX, is seeking a detail-oriented HR Specialist on a temporary-to-full-time basis. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in workers’ compensation claim investigations and FMLA administration, along with a solid background supporting large employee populations. This role offers the opportunity to manage important compliance functions while also contributing to broader HR initiatives. After the initial 90-day training period onsite, the position will move to a hybrid schedule. Key Responsibilities + Workers’ Compensation: Manage the full lifecycle of claims, including investigations, documentation, carrier coordination, and return-to-work planning. + Leave Programs: Administer FMLA, ADA, and other leaves in compliance with legal and internal requirements; maintain accurate leave records; partner with payroll and benefits teams. + Onboarding & Compliance: Facilitate new hire orientation; complete I-9/E-Verify; ensure documentation accuracy and compliance. + HRIS & Reporting: Maintain employee records, support data integrity, and prepare HR reporting as needed. + Employee Support: Serve as a point of contact for HR-related questions and provide timely assistance. + Projects & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to HR projects such as job description updates, compliance audits, and engagement initiatives. Requirements Qualifications + Experience conducting workers’ compensation investigations and managing FMLA administration. + Prior HR experience in an organization of 500+ employees. + Knowledge of ADA and general leave compliance. + Hands-on experience with I-9/E-Verify, onboarding, and HR documentation. + Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills. Preferred: + Non-profit sector background. + Experience partnering with carriers/TPAs on workers’ comp claims. + HR certifications (SHRM-CP, PHR). Work Arrangement + First 90 days: Full-time onsite in Spring, TX. + After 90 days: Hybrid schedule (3 days in office / 2 days WFH).
