The New York Times is looking for a HR Specialist based in London to support the HR team and NYT employees. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HR BP) for the global newsroom based in New York, you will work with the HR Business Partners in London and Seoul, and provide administrative support on all people related matters. The HR team will work together to build organisational capabilities, behaviours, and structures that support an evolving, digital first strategy.

Responsibilities: Assist the HR Business Partners on full spectrum of daily HR operation in the global newsrooms and bureaus Workday administration (HR Information System); e.g. name changes, reporting changes, promotions, salary changes, and terminations. Work with HR Business Partners and HRIS experts to document report requirements, design and deliver Workday reports using Workday's report writing tools. Prepare offer letters, references, employment contracts and other work related documents. Manage employment visa applications. Collaborate with the payroll department, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange. Support the recruitment process in terms of advertising, shortlisting candidates and arranging interviews. Coordinate on-boarding arrangements, including new starter presentations and update and maintain employee records Use Workday to determine methods to a) integrate data from multiple systems and b) produce reports. Be an active member of the HR team, supporting global HR projects, influencing and challenging colleagues. Administration of benefit plans and providers (including pensions, season tickets, cycle to work, health insurance, tax filing) including employee communication and awareness sessions. Absence management for international newsroom employees e.g. vacations, sickness, parental leave and sabbaticals. Administration related to training and development needs identified by the business. Be a trusted and credible HR partner who anticipates needs, recommends solutions and handles confidential information appropriately. Gain a deep understanding of how the newsroom and business works. Support the strategy of creating a more inclusive workplace at The New York Times. Collaborate with the wider HR department to deliver services and programs that meet business needs. Develop and use relevant people metrics to provide insights that help guide business decisions. Help with occasional HR-related event coordination. Basic Qualifications: High proficiency in written and spoken English. An interest in pursuing a career in HR. Experience using Microsoft and Google suite (word, excel, powerpoint, google docs, google sheets, google slides). Experience building relationships and gaining the trust and support of colleagues. Numerate with an ability to organise and track quantitative data, analyse and identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis. Previous experience working in an administrative role managing a varied workload and priorities from several stakeholders. Attention to detail, curious and proactive in their work, organised and deadline oriented Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
