We’re looking for a full-time, in office, Human Resources Manager in the manufacturing industry in Barrie, Ontario.
Our client, based in Barrie, Ontario, is a leading and well-established independent manufacturer. With a strong focus on innovation, customer service, and cost-effective solutions, they continue to be a trusted partner across multiple industries. This is a full in-office role (remote is not an option) and an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while leading and mentoring a team of two HR professionals in a well-established and respected company.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will oversee all day-to-day HR functions, providing leadership in labor relations, employee engagement, compliance, and talent development. This role requires someone who is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on problem solver, able to navigate complex employee relations while supporting a positive and productive workplace.
Human Resources Manager Responsibilities: Lead HR functions including labor relations, employee services, compensation, and health & safety Oversee recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention initiatives Manage employee orientation and support integration into company culture Ensure compliance of performance management systems and oversee probation/performance reviews Handle employee relations, grievances, and conflict resolution strategies Ensure compliance with policies, legislation, and collective agreements; participate in bargaining and arbitration Conduct investigations into employee complaints, health and safety concerns, and legislative issues Develop and update HR policies, programs, and procedures Provide HR metrics and insights to support business decisions Lead, coach, and mentor two direct HR reports, which includes payroll, delegating projects and ensuring professional growth Establish departmental goals, policies, and procedures to align with company objectives The successful candidate has: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resource Management CHRP/CHRL designation is a must 5+ years of HR management or supervisory experience, in a unionized, manufacturing setting Strong knowledge of ESA, OHSA, Labor Relations Act, WSIB, Human Rights Code, and privacy legislation 3+ years’ experience in disability claims management and workplace accommodations Proven experience in policy development, training, recruitment, payroll (Ceridian), benefits, and performance management Excellent organizational, leadership, and conflict resolution skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (required for travel to a nearby site ~15 minutes away) Able to work in office with flexibility of hours Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000, depending on experience Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered Benefits 3 weeks holiday Group RSP Opportunities for professional development Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
