The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a HR Lead –Regional Projects

to join and grow our team. 

This role is for the duration of the Lumwana expansion project (August 2025 – December 2027) and will require approximately 75% of time spent at Lumwana Mining Company, Zambia.

Responsibilities:

HR Project Management:

Support the HR Manager Projects within the projects’ scope to ensure continuity of service delivery As 2nd in charge of HR Projects, manage the core functions of Contractor On-Boarding and the Co-ordination of Operational Readiness for the Lumwana expansion project Implement HR policies and procedures tailored to project needs and support change management initiatives. Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and compliance with relevant regulations. Prepare regular reports on HR metrics for the project and maintain accurate and up-to-date HR documentation and reporting for project audits and reviews.

Contractor On-Boarding:

Ensure consistency and best practice in relation to contractor’s employee relations policies, practices, and systems in line with Lumwana Mining Company policies. Ensure the Contractor resources meet schedule requirements by managing the on-boarding process from tender award to mobilisation on site. Lead HR activities facilitated by the Owners team for assigned project packages, including Chiefdom recruitment, onboarding, training, and deployment of project personnel to schedule. Oversee the audit compliance of the Contractors with labor laws, company policies, and project-specific regulations.  Manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, and maintain positive engagement among project staff from an Owners Team perspective Manage performance reports of the contractors including response reports to contractor on-boarding delays claimed/submitted by the contractor Facilitate communication between project contractors, owners’ teams and corporate HR functions. Serve as a point of contact for Contractor and/or Contractor employee concerns and grievances under the project.

Operational Readiness

Working closely with the Operational Readiness Manager, ensure the resource readiness with the departmental management with and integrated and co-ordinated manning, on-boarding and training plans to meet the commissioning schedule. Manage the operational readiness manpower plans to schedule and mitigate any risk by identifying and resolving any matters that may impact the commissioning schedule. Develop and track an integrated operational readiness training plan with the departmental Management and L&D for required training programs to meet the competency requirements for operational readiness and ensure smooth commissioning of the various project packages

Health and Safety: 

Collaborate with health and safety teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among all project personnel.

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree will be preferred.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

Proven experience in HR management, with a focus on feasibility studies, construction, or mining projects and contractor on-boarding. In-depth knowledge of local labour laws and regulations. Strong understanding of compensation and benefits principles and practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strategic thinking. Proficiency in HRIS and other relevant software applications. HR Professional registration (e.g., SHRM, CIPD).
