HR Director

Description We are looking for an experienced HR Director to lead and manage critical human resources functions within our organization. This Contract to permanent position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in HR operations, compliance, and employee relations, who can work collaboratively with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives. Based in Los Angeles, California, this role offers an opportunity to oversee diverse HR activities while contributing to the organization’s long-term goals.
Responsibilities:
• Direct and manage all HR operations, including policy development, compliance, and employee services.
• Supervise HR staff to ensure effective delivery of recruitment, performance evaluations, employee relations, and benefits administration.
• Partner with senior leadership to address legal matters and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple sites.
• Oversee labor relations, including union contract negotiations and campus safety programs.
• Develop and implement recruitment strategies, collaborating with department heads to attract and retain top talent.
• Conduct job assessments to align positions with the organization’s compensation philosophy.
• Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to advise leadership on updates to policies and practices.
• Lead onboarding processes to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.
• Manage negotiations and administration of insurance programs such as workers’ compensation and health benefits.
• Support training and development initiatives to enhance employee performance and organizational growth. Requirements
•Academic and Union workforce experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources management, including leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employment laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in employee relations, benefits administration, and compensation strategies.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage union contracts and labor relations.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
• Familiarity with academic affairs or similar institutional environments is a plus.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certification preferred.
