We are looking for an experienced Underwriter to join a newly formed team to help develop, manage and grow a book of complex healthcare professional liability accounts – always with the goal of maintaining long term profitability. The ideal candidate will have:
excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills,experience underwriting excess professional liability on an insurance and reinsurance basis, andgood relationships with regional and national brokerage firms.This is a ground floor opportunity with significant growth potential for the right candidate.
Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and underwrite large and complex healthcare risks to determine the appropriate structure, terms and conditions required to profitably write the account.Carefully review underlying and/or captive policy wording to assess the risk assumed and the need for manuscript endorsements.Work closely with the Actuarial team to determine pricing.Manage the end to end underwriting process of quoting, binding and policy issuance.Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate the underwriting process, promote business development, and to remain abreast of industry trends.Serve as a resource to other departmental staff with regards to underwriting procedures and departmental guidelines.CompetenciesPeople Management

5 Years Relevant underwriting or broking experience in HPL or related fields. Experience with large account underwriting, loss rating and form analysis are a plus.Education
Minimum 4 Year / Bachelor’s DegreeCertification, Licenses and Designations
Studies toward attaining a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or equivalent insurance designation depending on specialty areaOther
