HOWMET ACUÑA Maintenance Engineer
Education 

 

A bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as mechanical or electrical engineering.  Optional working on an engineering degree.  Optional robust experience with CNC, EDM and numerical control.   A high school diploma or equivalent, with courses in shop and computer programming.  Equivalent technical school and experience.   Degrees or certificates in measurements and calculations, production machining techniques, computer science, CNC Machining. Technical school certificate(s).   Electrical Discharge Machining Basics or more advanced, Theory and process of sinker and wire EDM in toolmaking.   Skills and Abilities

 

Excellent communication and customer service skills. Bilingual, Spanish and English is desired but not a requisite.  Strong ability to read and     understand technical instructions in English and Spanish, strong reading skills are desired. In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and Hydraulic troubleshooting. The ability to read and interpret plans, Electrical schematics and specifications. Strong mathematical skills. Moderate to advanced computer programming understanding. Computer literate. Attention to detail. Analytical skills. Problem-solving skills. Hands on ability, not afraid to turn wrenches or get dirty.  Ability to use hand and power tools. Safety oriented.

 

Experience

 

At least five years of experience operating and programming CNC machine tools. Preventative Maintenance: Performing regular inspections of CNC machines to identify potential problems before  

they occur. 

            b) Cleaning and lubricating machine components as per maintenance schedule. 

            c) Checking coolant levels and quality. 

            d) Replacing worn-out parts proactively. 

 

Troubleshooting and Repair:

            a) Diagnosing malfunctions and errors on CNC machines. 

             b) Identifying the root cause of equipment breakdowns. 

            c) Replacing faulty components and performing necessary repairs. 

            d) Utilizing technical manuals and troubleshooting guides.  

 

Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance: Checking electrical connections and wiring.  Maintaining mechanical components like bearings, gears, and slides. Calibrating machine parameters and oversees preventive maintenance.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting: Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities and machine performance.  Analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.  Reporting maintenance issues and findings to relevant stakeholders. 

 

Collaboration with Production Teams: Working closely with CNC operators to identify and address machine-related production Issues. Providing technical support and training to operators on proper machine operation and 

                 Maintenance.

 

Staying Updated: Attending training courses and workshops to stay current with new CNC technologies and maintenance practices. Keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in CNC machining.

 

Works with outside contractors and Vendors as needed.

 

Installs new equipment as needed.

 

Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment, with special attention to LOTO.

 

Performs other duties, as assigned.
