Housekeeping Aid Supervisor - Environmental Services Technician
Summary This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of the Chillicothe Ohio VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited, to the following: Assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis. Coordinating work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities. Assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision. Training staff and ensuring that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel. Providing on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate. Scheduling regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives. Keeping subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit. Ensuring all safety regulations and procedures are observed and may on occasion be required to conduct training classes on specific safety issues. Coordinating of activities with other services, including rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves. Inspecting assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, sanitation levels are maintained, equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner. Following up on all work assignments to ensure that established procedures, work assignments and safety standards are being properly applied and adjusting as necessary. Work Schedule: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Sunday through Saturday with two days off during week. Required to work some holidays. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Heavy/moderate lifting, light/moderate/heaving carrying, straight pulling, pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeat bending, climbing, both legs required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable to 20/40, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color, hearing (aid permitted), ability to read and write, emotional stability, mental stability and able to wear N95/PAPR. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
