Location: Greensboro, NC

 Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with a rotating weekend schedule. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

 

Position Summary

 

The Budd Group is seeking a skilled and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and fully operational campus environment for our students, faculty, and staff. You'll perform hands-on maintenance and repair work across a variety of trades, ensuring our academic buildings, residence halls, and administrative offices are in excellent condition.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

General Maintenance: Respond to daily work orders for repairs on campus facilities, including classrooms, offices, and residential spaces.

Plumbing: Perform routine plumbing repairs, such as fixing leaks, clearing drains, and replacing fixtures like toilets and faucets.

HVAC: Conduct basic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (e.g., filter changes, thermostat adjustments).

Electrical: Handle basic electrical tasks, including replacing light bulbs and ballasts, switches, outlets, and resetting breakers.

General Repairs: Perform carpentry, painting, drywall patching, and hardware installation (e.g., door handles, locks) as needed.

Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of building systems to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is completed in compliance with university safety protocols and industry standards.

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with demonstrated skills in general plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and repairs.

Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Technical or trade school certification is a plus.

Licenses: A valid North Carolina driver's license is required.

Skills:

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical manuals.

Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.
