Hyatt Regency Harare – The Meikles is looking for an Engineering Team Leader tomanage daily Hotel maintenance operations, repairs, and preventative programs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) safety, and operational efficiency. The candidate will be responsible for leading technicians, coordinate work orders, manage inventory, and support the Chief Engineer in safety compliance and budget goals.To supervise daily engineering operations, coordinates maintenance of building systems, and leads a technical team to ensure guest comfort and operational safety.This role reports to the Assistant Maintenance Manager and blends hands-on technical work with leadership and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintenance Operations:Oversee, inspect, and primarily perform preventative maintenance in guest facing areas / public areas of the hotel. Responsible for hotel rooms preventative program and be conversant with (PM) on HVAC-R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
· Team Leadership:Supervise, train, schedule, and motivate engineering staff.
· Guest Experience:Promptly respond to and resolve guest repair requests.
· Safety Compliance:Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and fire safety regulations (e.g., generators, sprinkler systems).
· Administrative Tasks:Manage parts inventory, purchase orders, work order logs, and daily/monthly reporting.
· Supervision:Supervise artisans and tradespersons, directing daily activities and ensuring work meets company standards.
· Contractor Management:Supervise on-site contractors, ensuring they adhere to health and safety policies and complete work to required standards.
· Preventative Maintenance:Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance schedules for all hotel machinery and equipment to prevent service disruptions.
· Training:Provide technical training and guidance to both new hires and existing staff on engineering procedures and safety protocols.
· Performance Management:Assist management in evaluating employee performance, counselling, and coaching team members.

Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Requisite High School, Class 1 Certificate / Diploma / Degree in HVAC, Electrical or Mechanical. Strong knowledge of Hotel Maintenance, plumbing, electrical, Guestroom Maintenance, FLS systems and Preventative ProgramsProven ability to lead a team, manage daily work orders, and communicate effectively.Proficiency in maintenance management software and basic, computer-based reportingMust be physically fit and be able to lift 23kg, climb stars/ladders and confined spaces heights.Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.An eye for detailCustomer-focused with high standards for cleanliness and qualityStrong verbal and written skill to articulate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiencesProficiency in English languageAbility to work under pressure and handle emergencies.Deep understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
