Hospitality Healthcare Instructor - School of Innovation

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Job Summary: The Hospitality in Health Care Instructor of the Poynor School of Health Care Innovation plays a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare education in the Pee Dee Region. This role will plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction for high school students, preparing them with the knowledge and skills for certification and healthcare employment. Instruction in healthcare hospitality focuses on enhancing the non-medical experience for patients, families, and staff by creating a welcoming, comfortable, and efficient environment, encompassing tasks like greeting guests, coordinating services, assisting with patient needs, and managing patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

•    Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and workshops focused on guest services, patient support, environmental management, communication and coordination, and problem solving.  
•    Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical demonstrations.
•    Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to help students improve their skills and understanding.
•    Manage program logistics, such as scheduling classes, field trips, and other program-related activities.
•    Stay current with best practices in both the hospitality and healthcare industries to provide relevant and practical training.
•    instructing students on healthcare vocabulary, word structures, and abbreviations, often preparing them for careers in the medical field
Education:

•    High School Diploma 
•    Healthcare Clinical Credentials (Nursing or Allied Health field)
Qualifications & Skills:

•    Minimum of two years in patient facing/customer service role in a healthcare setting.
•    Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
•    Patience, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong leadership abilities are crucial for guiding students and fostering a supportive learning environment.
•    Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
•    Must be knowledgeable of and able to follow the standards of federal, state and regulatory agencies and DNV/DHEC.
