Hospital Medicine Physician, JH - Bayview - #Faculty
Overview: The Division of Hospital Medicine at Johns Hopkins at Bayview Medical Center is a group of about 50 faculty,12 APP and 6 support staff in the Department of Medicine. The division's mission draws from the larger tripartite mission of the department of medicine to include exceptional patient care, developing & educating future leaders and driving innovation &discovery within the scope of hospital medicine. Hospitalist Program: Scope of Activities Clinical Activities The group's current clinical activities include: Teaching services, direct care services, consultative activities, co-management services, complex care services, , the intermediate medical care and a nocturnist service. While there is dedicated nocturnist support, shifts include nights, weekends and holidays. The division employs support staff including a hospitalist administrator, administrative manager, administrative coordinators, medical office coordinators and program specialists, and also employs moonlighters (faculty, residents and fellows) as needed to support some clinical activities. Key Responsibilities: + Patient Care: + Provide comprehensive medical care for hospitalized patients, including admission, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning. + Conduct daily rounds to assess patients' conditions and update their treatment plans. + Make timely, evidence-based decisions regarding patient care and treatment plans. + Respond to clinical emergencies and ensure the safety and comfort of patients. + Collaboration: + Work closely with physicians in training, attending physicians, consultants, & physician advisors as needed. + Collaborate with nurses, social workers, case managers, utilization management nurses, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy extenders and other members of the healthcare team to provide coordinated care. + Communicate effectively with care teams, patients and families, providing education on diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans. + Update patients' outpatient providers to ensure a safe transition at discharge. + Clinical Productivity and Compliance: + Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in the electronic health records (EHR). + Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements, including quality improvement initiatives, infection control, and safety protocols. + Complete professional fee billing upon completion of clinical services. o Meet the productivity and performance expectations on each of the clinical services. o Ensure compliance with annual requirements laid out by the school of medicine and the Johns Hopkins Health System to continue clinical practice. Education & Mentorship Activities The division's educational activities include: Teaching services that include both graduate medical education learners [GME] & undergraduate medical education learners [UME]; advance practice provider students & learners; observers through Observership programs; and finally, learners coming through pipeline programs created by the department and the school of medicine. Learners are assigned to both teaching services and direct care services. Education activity beyond learners encompass dissemination of medical knowledge and innovations in education. Key Responsibilities: + Quality Improvement: + Participate in divisional/departmental quality improvement projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety and satisfaction, and systems innovations. + Engage in care innovations and new care delivery models to improve overall patient care and value-based care. + Research & Discovery: + Contribute to the advancement of the field of Hospital Medicine through scholarly research activities. + Participate in Bayview Education & Academic Research Core meetings. Engage in IRB approved research studies within the University. + Dissemination of Scholarly Work: o Participate in intra and extra divisional engagements to disseminate scholarly work. o Engage regionally, nationally and internationally in dissemination of scholarly work done at Johns Hopkins. Innovation & Discovery Activities The division's innovations & discovery activities include: engagement in research activities such as large database related research, outcomes research, Quality improvement, operations research, care innovations and development of new care delivery models. Mentorship and dissemination of scholarly work including presentations at national & international conferences. Key Responsibilities: + Teaching & Mentoring: + Abide by GME requirements laid out by the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Internal Medicine residency program, while working with interns and residents. + Abide by UME requirements laid out by the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, while working with medical students. + Abide by divisional learner engagement guidance issued by the Division Director or their designees while engaging with other forms of learners. + Dissemination of Medical Knowledge: o Participate in intra and extra divisional engagements to disseminate evidenced based medical knowledge, innovations in clinical care and medical education. + Education: + Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited US medical school, or equivalent degree from an international institution. + Licensure: + Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. + Active medical license in the state of Maryland. + Certifications: + BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required. + Additional certifications, such as Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), preferred. Salary: $193,989 - $348,161 Job Type: Full Time The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity.
