VCA Carriage Hills Animal Hospital is seeking a vibrant, experienced, and compassionate Hospital Manager to lead the daily operations of our high-volume, multi-service veterinary hospital. Our hospital operates 24/7/365 and provides a full spectrum of veterinary care including emergency services, general wellness, and specialty medicine and surgery.

The Hospital Manager plays a vital leadership role in the success of our hospital. The Hospital Manager will be responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, team development, financial performance, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client and patient care in alignment with our mission and values. This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced, 24/7/365 veterinary environment and is passionate about cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassionate service.
Job Summary:
The Hospital Manager performs a wide range of difficult to complex administrative activities related to oversight of personnel and hospital operations. The goal is to provide quality patient care and excellent client service. Responsibilities include team building and support of our associates, management of finances and accounting, marketing and promotion of services, staffing and human resources, and discretionary activities that serve to support effective business operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Veterinary Technology, or related field preferred.
-3+ years experience in a management or leadership role in a veterinary, medical, or similar healthcare environment (emergency/multi-specialty strongly preferred).
-CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager) designation is a plus.
-Knowledge of veterinary hospital operations, terminology, and workflows.
-Proven success in operations, team management, and financial oversight.
- Strong people leadership skill set with experience forging and developing high performing teams.
-Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Person of high moral integrity and capable of building trusting relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.
- The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results by empowering other hospital leaders and team members.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities.
- Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct and develop the veterinary, technical and service teams towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service.
- Assist in the formulation of objectives and practices to ensure efficient and successful hospital operations.
- Oversee the performance review cycle to ensure associates are receiving feedback and have the ability to work towards performance improvement.
- Model an owner mentality by demonstrating a willingness to assist all associates in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
- Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.
- Ensure efficient scheduling, staffing, and workflow to support 24/7/365 operations
- Oversee PTO, and payroll processes.
- Coordinate maintenance of hospital equipment, facilities, and supplies
- Hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performing team including veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
- Handle escalated client concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and professionally
- Support the medical team in delivering compassionate, high-quality care.
- Champion client education and wellness initiatives.
- Collaborate on marketing, community outreach, and referral relationships
- Identify and implement hospital growth opportunities and operational improvements
- Lead projects such as system upgrades, new service implementation, or renovations.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call support as needed to meet 24/7 operational demands.
-Attend quarterly regional meetings and leadership calls.
