The Hone Operator hones metal and assembled parts utilizing horizonal honing machines as well as hand held tools, to exacting tolerances and dimensions per engineering requirements. The position monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. This position includes some time dedicated to operating a CNC mill when there is downtime in the hone.
Shift:
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.
Salary Range:
$22.00 to $39.75 per hour based on experience.

The Hone Operator will report to the Operations Manager.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates horizontal Honing machines, hone metal and assembled parts, tools to exacting tolerances and dimensions per engineering requirementsOperates hone machine controls to index parts and adjust machine for operational settings with minimal supervision, pulls tools and fixtures for setups and replaces when completeInterprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specificationsDetermines sequence of operations, bore size required, and method of setupUses a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instrumentsMeasure finished part with precision bore gauges (air and dial), calipers, fixed gauges, and micrometersPackage and box detail assemblies per work orders and customer specifications to transport the product to the following operations (quality, partmark, or shipping)Ensures the achievement of assigned daily/weekly/monthly/yearly production targetsBasic setup and operations of CNC mills and machining cellsPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience preferredPrior Hone experience desiredFamiliar with Sunnen Horizontal Hone equipment or equivalentFamiliar with operating Hone machine controls to index parts and adjust machine for operational settings with minimal supervisionPrior experience operating CNC mills and/or machining cells preferredAbility to read blueprints and apply basic math skillsAbility to accurately read Manufacturing Orders and drawings and verify quantities and Hone instructions with minimal supervisionAbility to operation precision measuring tools as required with minimal supervision.
