Position Summary
The Home Care Aide - PAH is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders.
Provides personal care and related services in the home. Functions under directions of Plan of Care developed by clinician and/or delegate.
Position Specific Responsibilities
• The job duties listed are essential functions of the position. However, other duties may be assigned, and may also be considered essential functions of the position. The Home Care Aide must be sufficiently fluent in the English language to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. The degree of fluency required will vary depending upon the nature of the position.
• Home Care Aides are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct, policies and standards of the Home Care Organization.
• For direct client care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.
• Follows written instructions for client care.
• Assists clients with non-medical personal care to preserve good personal hygiene while maintaining a healthful, safe environment, including bathing, dressing, feeding, personal hygiene and grooming, and toileting and incontinence care. Performs simple procedures as an extension of therapy services, such as ambulation, ROM, and exercise.
• Reports changes in client’s condition and needs to Office.
• Maintains record of services performed and of apparent condition of client.
• Established and maintains a good working relationship with the client/family and co -workers.
• Performs household services including meal preparation, shopping/errands, laundry and housekeeping.
• Annually completes Compliance Education and understands applicable policies.
• Conforms to applicable policies and procedures.
• Participates actively in continuing education.
• Maintains confidentiality of client information and business trade practices.
• Assumes accountability for reporting incidents and complaints according to policy.
• Annually completes compliance education and understands applicable policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• CA: Adheres to California Home Care Organization regulations.
Education and/or Experience
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement. See Licenses and Certifications section.
Required - Experience working with older adults and adults with dementia.
Preferred - • Work experience as a caregiver, or
• Clinical experience as a nursing student, or
• Active CNA certification.
Preferred - 6 months Experience as a caregiver.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy.
Other Qualifications: Sympathetic attitudes toward care of the sick.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Required within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (Vendor Managed)
Required upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Constant Care Attendants are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Constant Care Attendants will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
CA: Active HCA registration with California Department of Social Services.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In a healthcare setting, exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
