As a Home Loan Underwriter III in the Home Lending team, you serve as a key decision-maker, applying expert analysis to complex loan applications. You collaborate with advisors and specialists to facilitate efficient loan processing and approvals, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. You help customers achieve or retain homeownership by providing thoughtful solutions and upholding fair lending practices. Job Responsibilities

Analyze and underwrite residential mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with lending criteria and risk management standardsApply comprehensive knowledge of mortgage servicing processes and credit guidelines to loan decisionsCollaborate with Home Lending Advisors, Customer Care Specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless processingReview and validate financial documentation, including income, assets, and credit reportsIdentify and resolve documentation deficiencies, communicating findings clearly and professionallyMaintain up-to-date knowledge of credit policy changes and regulatory requirementsUphold fair lending practices and ensure equitable treatment of all clientsMentor and support team members through second reviews, group discussions, and training opportunitiesPrioritize workflows to optimize operational efficiency and meet deadlinesConsistently achieve productivity, quality, and service level goalsDeliver exceptional customer service and foster positive relationships throughout the underwriting process

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, or related fieldDemonstrated experience in U.S. residential mortgage processing or underwritingDemonstrated expertise in income calculation, credit assessment, and asset analysisThorough understanding of Federal and State regulatory requirementsProficiency in mortgage underwriting software and automated underwriting systems (AUS)Strong analytical and decision-making skillsAbility to deliver clear and concise underwriting conditions and decisionsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCommitment to customer service excellenceWillingness to work night shifts (U.S. hours) and hybrid/in-office as needed

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and federal mortgage regulationsExperience with Conventional Agency and Non-Agency loan amountsProficiency in tax return and balance sheet analysis, cash flow assessment, and self-employment income evaluationKnowledge of Mortgage Insurance policies and their application in underwritingExperience with a variety of mortgage productsCSA / Voice CertifiedHigh energy, resilient, and proactive approach to pipeline development
