**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Histotechnologist** Location: Trinity Health Oakland Hospital – Pontiac, MI Schedule: Full-Time | Variable Shifts (Training on Day Shift Required) Department: Pathology Laboratory Job Type: Regular Shift: Rotating **Job Summary** Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histotechnologist to join our high-volume, state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. This role is essential to the accurate preparation and processing of pathology specimens, supporting diagnostic excellence and patient care. Our lab performs over 75,000 cases annually and includes on-site Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Molecular labs, offering exceptional opportunities for professional development. **Key Responsibilities** + Accession and prepare surgical and cytology specimens. + Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, and coverslipping. + Execute special stains and immunohistochemical procedures. + Assist pathologists with frozen section preparation. + Operate and maintain lab equipment including microtomes, cryostats, and automated stainers. + Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, and FDA standards. + Maintain accurate records and participate in lab statistics reporting. **Qualifications** Education Requirements: + Associate degree in Science or Applied Science and completion of an accredited Histotechnology program. + OR + Two years of histology experience with an Associate degree in Science. + OR + High School Diploma and completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program. Certification: HT or HTL ASCP certification preferred. Experience: 1–3 years of histology experience preferred. Additional Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
