Facility: East Cooper Medical Center Location: Mount Pleasant, SC What You'll Do As a Histotechnician IV, you will play a key role in supporting diagnostic excellence and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes. In this role, you will: + Prepare and process human tissue specimens for diagnostic and teaching purposes + Perform advanced histology procedures, including immunohistochemistry, special stains, and frozen sections + Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized histology equipment + Lead the evaluation and validation of new or modified staining techniques + Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, etc.) + Maintain accurate documentation for procedures, quality monitoring, and equipment maintenance + Support department operations through efficient use of supplies and process improvement initiatives + Assist with orientation, training, and technical guidance for Histotechnician I–III team members + Provide feedback on technical quality and workflow to support team development + Participate in on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays, as assigned + Occasionally travel to community hospitals to assist with frozen sections What We're Looking For We’re seeking an experienced, detail-driven Histotechnician IV who thrives in a high-quality laboratory environment and enjoys serving as a technical resource and mentor to others. This role is ideal for someone with strong histology expertise, advanced staining experience, and a commitment to patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will: + Have 5+ years of hands-on histology experience, including fixation, processing, microtomy, and staining + Hold an ASCP HT certification (HTL preferred) and maintain Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) requirements + Demonstrate advanced knowledge of immunohistochemistry, special stains, and frozen sections + Be comfortable leading validation of new or modified staining techniques + Enjoy supporting and training team members while helping guide daily lab operations + Work independently while collaborating effectively with pathologists, lab staff, and clinical partners + Remain calm and focused in fast-paced or high-priority situations Job Opening ID 135969
