Histotechnician II
Description Summary:The histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state of the art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Lead Histotechnologist you will provide high quality diagnostic material within established turn-around-times. Position Responsibilities:Embeds cuts stains and performs other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.Performs accurate gross description on tissue samples.Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate records.Operates all instruments/ equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognizes and identifies instrument/ equipment problems.Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.Recognizes testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies appropriate personnel assists in problem resolution.Record transcribe and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines.Required:Associate degree in medical technology chemistry biology or related life scienceFormal training in Histology from an accredited program 720 hoursState Licensure where applicable CA FL NY require licensingMeets CLIA personnel standard criteria.Skills in microtomy grossing processing embedding cutting and routine special staining techniques.5-7 years of experience Skills histology, laboratory, technical skills, staining, ascp certification, pathology, lab equipment, ascp certified, lab testing Top Skills Details histology,laboratory,technical skills,staining Additional Skills & Qualifications Lab Work Laboratory Bench work Experience Level Intermediate Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
