Job Description
Perform routine and special procedures on patients’ tissue specimens in preparation for pathological examination. This role involves testing, interpreting, and verifying results while ensuring quality control and addressing any discrepancies.
ResponsibilitiesPerform testing and interpret and verify results.Adjust to fluctuating workloads efficiently.Conduct quality control procedures and maintain documentation.Perform corrective actions as needed.Document out-of-control situations, providing detailed results and corrective actions taken.Follow procedures and perform and document instrument maintenance.Essential SkillsMedical laboratory skillsHematologyHistologyImmunohistochemistryPathologyASCP certification or eligibilityAbility to perform tissue fixation, embedding/microtomy, tissue processing, staining, and laboratory operations.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate degree in Histotechnology or equivalent.High School Diploma with HT or HTL American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or eligibility.Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program or relevant academic credits.One year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory if eligible for certification.Work Environment
Current openings include shifts from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. The laboratory environment offers a structured career ladder for financial growth and is unionized, providing a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $46113.60 - $76960.00/yr.
Full benefits package provided including, medical, dental, vision, 401K, etc. In addition this role offers an $8,000 sign-on bonus!
