Job Summary and Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position requires knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures and assumes responsibility and accountability for prepping, scanning, and QC (quality control) Indexing of all documents picked up and received by the Health Information Management (HIM) Department, ensuring timely accessibility of information for quality patient care. This HIM professional will assume responsibilty to maintain the integrity of the Horizon Patient Folder (HPF) medical records in accordance with federal and state regulations and Dignity Health compliance policies, realizing the high impact the records have relating to grant funding, coding, billing payors and reimbursement. This position assumes responsibility and accountability for release of information to physician offices and the performance of quantitative and qualitative chart analysis on all levels of care in accordance to medical staff rules and regulations and Federal and State regulations. This position will also be responsible for timely notification to physicians of pending records that need completion, identifying those physicians who will be suspended and notifying appropriate hospital personnel / departments of physician suspension. In addition, this position assists in the responsibilty of completing birth certificates and paperwork for the POP paternity program, when necessary.
