HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER

### Job Duties
The Public Works Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance tasks to support the safety and security of county roads, parks, facilities, and fairgrounds. Core duties include conducting daily equipment inspections, documenting work performed and materials used, and carrying out snow and ice control in accordance with county standards. The position operates a range of light, heavy, and specialized maintenance equipment, performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment, and assists with facility repairs as needed. Responsibilities also involve maintaining and repairing aggregate, bituminous, and concrete road surfaces, inspecting roadways and rights of way for safety, and setting up and monitoring work zone traffic control following MMUTCD guidelines. In addition, the role provides upkeep of county parks and fairgrounds by maintaining grounds and facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, performing general building and grounds maintenance, and supporting setup and preparation for a variety of events. The Public Works Maintenance Worker may also assist other divisions within Public Works and carry out other related duties as assigned.
### Minimum Education Required
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of prior responsible related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if it provides the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the essential duties of the role.
### Minimum Experience Required
Applicants must have at least two years of prior responsible related work experience. In addition, candidates are required to hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proof of insurance at the time of hire. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job may also be considered.
