GPI is seeking a full-time Highway Design Engineer for our growing Transportation Group in Mechanicsburg, PA. We seek individuals ready to work collectively with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in a dynamic office environment on interesting and challenging projects. Projects involve varying types of roadways, bridges, intersections, complete streets, and trail designs. Responsibilities:
Thorough understanding of the geometric design of highways and streetsComfortable taking a lead role in the design and development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates for transportation projectsExperience with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and PA municipal clientsAbility to develop plans from conceptual design to final horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, grading, drainage design, and utility relocations, including performing the required quality control and quality assurance checksUnderstanding of construction as it relates to developing temporary traffic control and construction staging plansExperience with leading a small design team through guidance, mentorship and career development, while managing the team’s workload with a focus on scope, schedule and budget.Qualifications:
10 plus years of highway engineering experience preferredBS in Civil Engineering required; focus on Transportation or Land Development preferredPE is preferredExperience with PennDOT and/or PA municipal clients is a plusExperience managing and/or mentoring a small design teamProficiency Using MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads
