GPI is seeking a full-time Highway Design Project Manager for our growing Transportation Group in our Wilmington, MA office. We are looking for an individual that is ready to work collectively with a multi-discipline team of engineers in a dynamic office environment on interesting and challenging projects. Projects in our New England offices involve varying types of roadway, bridge, intersection, and trail designs with a focus on complete streets projects. GPI understands the significant responsibility we have as engineers to provide safe, unique, and context-sensitive transportation solutions to the many communities and clients we serve. GPI offers flexible work schedules with the ability to split time between working in the office and from home. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

Ability to take the primary supervisory role in the design and development of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for transportation projects under the oversight of the Director of Transportation EngineeringSupervising/mentoring team members in the development of transportation design projectsProducing designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or providing technical design guidance to other team membersDeveloping project contracts, schedules, and budgetsManaging projects for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), City of Boston, and/or other Massachusetts municipal clientsPresenting highway related design elements to clients and stakeholdersAssisting with quality control of construction plans and design documents generated by other team members to ensure quality objectives are met

Qualifications:

BS in Civil EngineeringMassachusetts PE licenseThorough understanding of PROWAG and ADA accessibility standardsProficiency using AutoCAD Civil 3DExperience in developing quantity and cost estimatesFamiliarity with developing specifications and construction bid documentsAble to interpret and apply technical information contained in procedures and manuals (including state-specific manuals) to accomplish the design process for assigned projectsAbility to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team to meet challenging design and schedule requirementsStrong technical writing and communication skillsProgressive experience in highway design for public agenciesMassDOT and/or MA municipal clients in Metro Boston experience a plusWorking knowledge of current NACTO and ‘Complete Streets’ guidelines a plusUnderstanding of green infrastructure and sustainable design practices a plus
