Reports To: Project Manager II

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary

Compensation: $29 - $40 per hour, based on relevant experience; per diem

Benefits: Not Eligible for Benefits

This is a seasonal position with the expectation that work will consist of 8-10 hours per day, 6 days per week through September 2025. This position is primarily a field-based position with minimal office time anticipated. Candidates applying for this position will be required to work in Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho.

JOB SUMMARY: The Herbicide Applicator is responsible for treating non-native invasive species during the construction of utility-scale electrical transmission projects in Idaho and Oregon. The principal duties include, management of invasive plant species populations, application of herbicides, communication with county weed supervisors and federal agency personnel, and reporting of weed treatment efforts.

Manage the treatment of noxious weed populations within utility rights-of-way

Document changes to noxious weed populations

Coordinate treatment of noxious weed species and track treatment status

Work collaboratively with construction and regulatory agency personnel to ensure treatment is conducted in a timely manner

Ensure best management practices are implemented

Prepare reports for noxious weed treatment efforts

Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures

Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s cultural of safety and employee ownership.

Position will require travel and working outside

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, botany, environmental sciences or related field or equivalent work experience

3-8 years of relevant professional experience

Ability to identify native and non-native plant species and noxious weed species

Competence using global positioning system (GPS) units, maps, iPads, and submeter accuracy devices

Commercial or Public Pesticide Applicator License or equivalent in Oregon and Idaho or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire

Training in weed management or Integrated Pest Management with an emphasis in weeds.

Experience in coordination with agency personnel and private landowners

Ability to frequently lift up to forty (40) pounds and maneuver various terrain with spray equipment

Ability to work long hours in potentially extreme weather conditions and in rugged terrain

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in native plant, and non-native and invasive plants, and noxious weed identification specific to noxious weeds in Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho

Experience conducting noxious weed treatment on large-scale utility construction projects
