Scope of Work
The hemodialysis technician is a facility trained, procedural oriented health care provider. The hemodialysis technician performs technical tasks following approved protocols to provide direct patient care as delegated by, and under the direct supervision of an RN.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Must successfully complete a formal patient care dialysis technician training program (approved and provided by the facility) before independently providing patient care; must successfully complete formal water treatment system training before performing water treatment system tasks. Significant experience in hemodialysis or related field may warrant waiving formal education requirement/
• Associate’s degree or equivalent-2years of college in scientific field Preferred
• BLS through American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Must achieve ESRD patient care certification through a national commercially available certification program within 18 months of being hired as a dialysis patient care technician.
