**Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician** 📍 **Sun Country Materials Landfill – Riverview, FL** 💵 **Pay: $29–$35/hr + $5,000 Stay-On Bonus** 🗓️ **Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM + Possible Saturdays & Year-Round OT** Waste Connections, Inc. is hiring a **high-energy, self-directed, and organized** Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician to join our team in Riverview, FL. Prior experience in the waste industry and familiarity with Equipment Management Software is a **strong advantage** . **Key Responsibilities:** + Order parts and build strong relationships with site staff, office clerks, and equipment vendors. + Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. + Maintain and repair landfill equipment including compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, haul trucks, and site trucks. + Use onboard computer systems to interpret failure codes and initiate repairs. + Respond to emergency breakdowns, including those on the landfill working face. + Operate and maintain heavy equipment confidently. + Complete inspections, safety checks, and maintenance documentation using fleet software. + Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards. + Communicate repair needs and updates clearly and promptly. **Working Conditions:** + Physically demanding role with lifting/pushing/pulling over 50 lbs. + Work may be indoors in a shop or outdoors on the landfill, sometimes in tight or greasy conditions. + Safety-first mindset is essential. **Minimum Requirements:** + 2+ years of experience working on heavy equipment (yellow iron). + Must provide your own tools. **What We Offer:** + Competitive pay and year-round stability. + Excellent benefits: medical, dental, vision, FSA, LTD, life insurance, 401(k). + Unlimited opportunities to “Connect with Your Future.” + Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
