Heavy Equipment Mechanic

LRI, a Waste Connections Company, is hiring a highly experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our landfill site in Graham, Washington. This is a demanding, hands-on role ideal for professionals who excel in high-responsibility environments and are committed to safety, reliability, and technical excellence.

Compensation & ScheduleHourly Pay: $37.00 – $40.00, based on experience and certificationsSchedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PMOvertime: Required as needed to meet operational demandsAbout the Role

This position involves complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of heavy diesel equipment. It is classified as safety-sensitive, meaning the work directly impacts the safety of personnel, equipment, and the public.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel and yellow iron equipmentConduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standardsTroubleshoot and resolve issues from Operator Vehicle Inspection ReportsMaintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work areaCommunicate repair needs clearly and professionallyFollow all safety protocols and procedures without exceptionMinimum Requirements5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and diesel repairStrong knowledge of yellow iron machinery, hydraulics, and diesel systemsAbility to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding conditionsMust own and maintain a complete set of professional-grade toolsValid driver’s license with a clean MVRAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and schematicsHigh school diploma or GED requiredASE certifications or welding qualifications are preferredMust be a self-starter capable of working independentlySafety-Sensitive: If offered the position, the candidate must pass all pre-employment screenings, including:Background Check – Comprehensive criminal history screeningMotor Vehicle Record (MVR) – Valid driver’s license and clean driving record requiredDrug Screening – Pre-employment drug test, including marijuana
