About the Role
First Student is looking for a skilled Heavy Duty Technician to join our maintenance team in Rimbey. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing our fleet of school buses and other vehicles to ensure safe and reliable transportation for students.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school buses and fleet vehicles (brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, etc.)Conduct safety inspections and preventative maintenanceDiagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic toolsMaintain accurate records of repairs and inspectionsEnsure compliance with provincial and federal safety standardsCollaborate with the shop manager and other technicians to prioritize work ordersRespond to road calls and emergency repairs when neededQualifications
Journeyperson certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Red Seal preferredExperience working on buses, trucks, or commercial vehiclesValid driver’s license (Class 5 required; Class 2 or 3 an asset)Ability to work independently and as part of a teamStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsFamiliarity with safety regulations and inspection standards in AlbertaWhy Join First Student?
