Reporting to the Senior Trainer - LEP, you will be responsible for assessing and certifying the competence of mine personnel in the installation, maintenance, repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems used across the expansion project. The role ensures that HVAC work is performed safely, in compliance with regulatory requirements, and to the highest technical standards

 Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

Conduct practical and theoretical competency assessments on HVAC systems, including installation, servicing, diagnostics, and repair.Assess safe handling, storage, and disposal of refrigerants and other HVAC consumables in line with environmental and regulatory requirements.Evaluate competence in confined space entry procedures, ventilation system checks, and heat management practices.Develop, review, and update assessment materials (tests, simulations, observation checklists).Identify gaps in skills or knowledge and recommend refresher or corrective training.Ensure assessment processes align with mine safety standards, OEM specifications, and statutory compliance.Maintain detailed records of assessment outcomes, certifications, and compliance reports.Provide technical guidance to trainers, apprentices, and maintenance teams where assessment outcomes indicate improvement is needed.Promote a safety-first approach in all HVAC work, emphasizing PPE use, energy isolation, and hazard identification.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

 

Full Grade Twelve (12) School CertificateDiploma in HVAC, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.Must be a TEVETA Accredited Trainer/ AssessorMember of The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) & Energy Regulation Board (ERB)Minimum of 5 years’ practical HVAC experience in heavy industry, construction, or mining.
