Summary This HEALTH TECHNICIAN position, is located in the Medical Group at an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing and reports to the Health System Specialist and is part of the CA 129 RQW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-8, is to serve as the functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management programs. Incumbent manages essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability. The position occupant serves as a member of or an advisor to, management boards and committees as well as Wing leadership regarding Force Health Management and Aerospace Medicine. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Qualifications General Experience: Must possess experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system. HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-8: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: providing a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems; Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems; Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs; Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity.
