The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, seek nominations and applications for an investigator with expertise in partnered health services research approaches relevant to improving the quality of care for individuals with psychosis and psychiatric disabilities. This position will be filled at the Instructor/Assistant/Associate rank. The ideal candidate will have completed psychiatric clinical training and pursued post-graduate research training. The candidate will have begun a recognized research program focused on implementation and effectiveness of clinical approaches in psychosis, legal and clinical definitions of grave disability or functional impairments due to psychotic disorders, the intersection of psychosis and homelessness, and/or related areas.

The candidate will be interested in building a successful extramurally funded research career in a highly collaborative research environment that is inclusive of partnership with a variety of stakeholders in community contexts and service systems.
This faculty position will be affiliated with the Center for Health Services and Society and its initiative, the Public Mental Health Partnership, recently named as California’s Center of Excellence for Assertive Community Treatment and Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (ACT/FACT). The ideal candidate will be prepared to conduct outcomes and implementation research related to ACT/FACT clinical care and/or outcomes and intervention approaches in partnered programs (e.g., diversion and competency restoration programs, CARE Act, LPS conservatorship). Research opportunities could be inclusive of health services (e.g., access, equity), implementation research (e.g., intervention development), and clinical treatment (e.g., psychopharm, phenomenology, forensic intervention outcomes).

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences with an international reputation of excellence in education, research, and patient care. Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision of trainees. The successful candidate also will evaluate and treat their own patients. In addition, they will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional, and service activities.
