The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, seeks nominations and applications for an investigator with expertise in continuous quality improvement, practice-based research, implementation science, and treatment of co-occurring disorders. This recruitment is conducted at the Instructor/Assistant/Associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Determination of rank and step will be based upon background, training, experience, and overall track record.
The ideal candidate will have an M.D./D.O. or a Ph.D. in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or a related field. An ideal candidate will bring independent experience in these research approaches and a recognized expertise in engaging service system partners in implementation or quality improvement research. The ideal candidate will be interested in building a successful extramurally funded research career in a highly collaborative research environment that engages a variety of stakeholders in community contexts and service systems.
This faculty position will be affiliated with the Center for Health Services and Society and its initiative, the Public Mental Health Partnership (PMHP), recently named as California’s Center of Excellence for Assertive Community Treatment and Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (ACT/FACT). PMHP will provide fidelity monitoring, technical assistance, and training for new ACT/FACT teams across the state of California. The ideal candidate will be prepared to support Center of Excellence activities and support practice-based research and quality improvement initiatives pursued by local service systems, the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, and/or the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System. For instance, the candidate will be prepared to deliver and study evidence-based models of implementation mapping and support, deliver and study technical assistance approaches, and/or leverage partnerships to study clinical interventions to support individuals with severe mental illness and co-occuring disorders experiencing functional challenges including homelessness.

Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision of trainees. The successful candidate also may evaluate and treat their own patients.
