Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY (PURPOSE)
At the Direction of the EHS Manager and Site Manager, with support from the Regional EHS team, the Project Site EHS Supervisor will provide support and facilitate the implementation of the company's EHS Management System within the assigned project.  The Project Site EHS Supervisor will support the EHS management of the Project Site during construction and commissioning activities through project completion.  Key support will be provided in areas of project EHS risk assessments, accident and incident investigation, Permit to work assessments, EHS execution work process and tool support. The EHS Supervisor will be part of the project team at the assigned Project Site. Success in this position is dependent on very strong interpersonal and influencing skills, sound risk-based decision making and the ability to connect with all levels of project personnel including contractors.


DIMENSIONS ANS SCOPE
Project Work Location is Carburos Metalicos ASU Plant, El Morell. People supported: 150 including contractors.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide EHS leadership and guidance to support the Project Site Team in achieving project objectives, mostly of the time on site. Champion application of PDO EHS processes to benefit project performance. Facilitate and encourage heightened EHS awareness and behaviour throughout the project. Support and advise Project Managers, Project Team, Project Site EHS Manager in areas of safety, health, emergency preparedness, and risk management. Implement site level EHS plans as required by the PDO EHS Management System and the project management team. Work closely with Contractor(s) to establish plans that meet contract requirements and follow through with the Project Management team and Contractor to ensure effective implementation. Provide guidance and support to site team. Support Project team. Instruct and train project personnel in the company EHS policies, procedures, and systems. Interface with the PDO EHS group, as necessary, to support project activities and identify/implement best practices and lessons learned. Active participation in Project EHS Leadership Team meetings. Contribute to site performance reporting, action tracking, and case management of injuries and illnesses.

KEY INTERFACES (Internal and External)
Internal:   
Must be able to engage and communicate effectively with all levels of the project organization (operators, supervisors, site managers, drivers, customer engineering, Business Area General Managers, Operational Managers and Line Managers). Be a point of contact for EHS support for the Project Site. Able to engage and liaise with Project Managers, all support functional staff (HR, Insurance, Procurement, Communications, Legal etc.), Engineering and Construction.

External:   
Have the credibility and technical knowledge to communicate and support AP positions on EHS issues with customers and contractors.
Be able to communicate succinctly and effectively with Emergency Services and Authorities (e.g. incident investigations).


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Proven EHS Supervision background and have a track record of project construction support. Knowledgeable of EHS management systems for Construction Projects, (Civil, Mechanical, E&I) and processes in the Gases Industry or Petro(chemical) industry is a plus. A qualification in EHS with demonstrated relevant experience in Industrial Construction Phase. A passion for Safety cultural support in an organization. Knowledge of EHS management systems and of the processes, technologies and equipment in use on industrial sites and their potential hazards, specially during Construction Phases. Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills including fluent written and spoken in Spanish, English is a plus. Significant experience working on Major Capital Construction Projects preferred. Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations. Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team. Expert level of knowledge and experience: Incident investigations and facilitation of root cause analysis Proficient level of knowledge and experience: OSHA, Spanish legislation,  Drug & Alcohol. Proficient level of knowledge and experience: LOTO (Lock out Tag out), PTW (Permit to Work), SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations)

ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK
Work is delivered within a specific framework documented in the project execution plan. Within this framework, the job holder must organize and decide themselves how to plan and execute the work with their direct team.


DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY
Many decisions are taken by the job holder to assist with the safe planning for the assigned Project. Advises and contributes to EHS decisions on what subsequent actions can be implemented to satisfy corporate and legal requirements.

MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF THE ROLE
To enable high standards of EHS engagement, performance, and compliance to be achieved and maintained within the Project, using personal influencing, coaching, mentoring, communication, and support skills.
Working in the evening and night, and weekend days, is possible during commissioning phase of project.
