As part of the Health and Safety compliance team, you will be supporting the business to effectively manage Health and Safety operations, particularly within our Logisitics estate which consists of 2000 drivers, 1100 vehicles, 27 Depots and delivering to over 1000 stores
You will:
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, regulations and requirements for all Asda Logistic Depots and Online Grocery to ensure our regulatory and statutory requirements.Provide subject matter expertise across the business to support the delivery of corporate strategic priorities, for example load security training.Support the field-based teams on incident management and Enforcement contact in relation to health and safety mattersAnalyse data to support in the creation of meaningful awareness campaigns and leadership programme insightsReview data sets and metrics to assess and evaluate operational performance to support in the delivery of continuous improvementWorking with other key stakeholders to develop procedures for the safe and efficient implementation of new processes and equipment.Be the ambassador for Asda for health, safety & environment and develop close working relationships with other key partners. Eg Training, Operations and the GMB UnionHorizon scan for new and emerging risks related to health, safety & environmental matters and be the lead to ensure complianceAnalyse data from continuous improvement reviews of each subject area to identify risks/issuesAnalyse data from accidents, incidents, external bodies, and other companies to develop procedural improvements to reduce hazards and accidents.Support/Lead serious investigations to identify the root causeSet tactical direction for operational transport safety and road risk reduction nationallySupport site operations as SME for Transport Safety and compliance with national safety processesEnsure suitable management systems are in place to reduce risk and improve legal complianceHelp in the development of engaging training materials the plans and the business accountabilitiesSupporting involvement with regulators to ensure facility compliance with all health, safety & environment matters“Let's find out about you.”The role requires a good knowledge of the UK Health, Safety and Environment regulatory framework and an understanding of the Good Vehicles (Licensing of Operators).You will be a manager with a strong operational background within a Retail/Logistics environment with a track record of managing Health & Safety or Road Safety across a large national retail or distribution business. You may hold, or be actively working towards, membership of appropriate professional bodies.An ability to engage across multiple channels and work effectively and collaboratively across different teamsAn ability to deliver at pace in a complex and ever-changing environmentExcellent business partnering, written and verbal communication skills are essentialThis role requires a degree of autonomy and a ‘can do’ attitude but will be guided by the Senior Health and Safety Environment ManagerEverything you'll loveTo ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices.
