Health Information Manager
**Job Description:** The Health Information Manager is responsible for implementing policies and strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices, and managing resources and systems for health information management across the organization. Key duties include identifying best practice solutions, introducing new technology, managing vendors and contracts, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and policy standards. The role also involves documenting policies, managing service levels, performance standards, and budgets, representing Health Information Management in system-wide initiatives, and overseeing human resources, including contract staff. Areas of expertise may encompass health record documentation, Health information exchanges, technology solutions, document management, clinical information entry, medical record storage and retrieval, vital records management, radiology report editing, medical record corrections, system-wide forms, information release, identity management, and patient portals like MyChart and Epic Care Everywhere and Epic Care Link. While this role is predominantly remote, there may be instances where onsite attendance is required. Candidates should also be open to occasional travel, as needed, to support team collaboration, training, or client engagements. **Education Qualifications:** Key Responsibilities: + Provides leadership, strategic direction, and influence related to HIM, Health Information Management, in area of expertise to system-wide operational and physician leaders + Works closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Quality, Information Services, and Revenue Cycle leaders + Identifies creative, efficient, best practice solutions and implements process improvements, standardization, and new technologies that support strategic initiatives + Leads, presents, manages expectations, and effectively manages difficult and escalated issues + Leads high performing, engaged, agile teams demonstrated by performance standards, service level agreements, and other defined measures (ex. Glint Survey) + Demonstrates project and time management skills, and ability to lead medium- large scale, complex, initiatives with interdisciplinary teams + Identifies data needed to drive business decisions and uses data to track process improvements and strategic initiatives (ex. performance data such as quality, productivity, and turnaround time) Educational Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in health information management or related area of study Required Qualifications: + 3 years of experience in health information management or leadership Preferred Qualifications: + Graduate of an AHIMA accredited education program for Health Information Management (RHIA or RHIT eligible) + 1 year of supervisory, leadership, or project management experience + Epic EHR certification or experience + Microsoft Office skillset + Experience in the area of supervision **Licensure/Certification Qualifications:** Certification/Licensure Requirements: + Certified as Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire or transfer into role Employee Benefits at Essentia Health: At Essentia Health, we’re committed to supporting your well-being, growth, and work-life balance.
