**Job Description :**
**Job Purpose:**
The primary purpose of the Health Informaticist (HI) is to serve as an expert for the Epic application and assist with the work activities of the team as assigned. Using evidence-based practice, the Health Informaticist contributes to patient safety by developing clinical documentation templates and decision support tools in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians.
The HI will serve as a point of contact for their respective team.
The HI will provide software analysis and design, application, and system installation and implementation. Provides best solutions to identified needs, meeting operational and business objectives and technology capabilities, and human resource requirements. Maintains the ongoing service relationships between the Health Informatics department and its direct teams' customers, and is a liaison to other teams, departments, and entities. They will assist in coordinating all issues that arise during the implementation for their respective team and must be very knowledgeable of the organization's policies, procedures, and business operations.
**Education:**
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare informatics, nursing, or other related field preferred.
Equivalent work experience in healthcare can replace the educational requirement.
**Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications:**
Certification in an Epic Application Module preferred; otherwise, primary Epic Application module certification obtained within the first six months. Order Transmittal required within two years.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse preferred - if licensed, maintains current licensure.
**Related Work Experience, Knowledge, and Other Skills:**
One or more years of experience implementing or supporting electronic health record applications is preferred.
Beginner Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude. Highly self-motivated, directed, and change-oriented. Very strong customer orientation.
Ability to analyze highly complex systems and workflows.
Ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the work assigned within the department.
Ability to communicate concepts in a concise, eloquent form to management and cross-functional departments or teams verbally, in writing, and through pictures or diagrams when appropriate.

Familiar with current issues and trends in healthcare and clinical operations in a healthcare system.
Healthcare knowledge base that promotes a high level of credibility with organization end users and executives.
Knowledge of Epic Software as well as other information systems, clinical software, and computer applications used in a healthcare setting.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Demonstrates basic knowledge of change management principles and teamwork.
Long hours may be required for the resolution of system issues impacting patient care; weekend availability may be expected for system upgrades, maintenance, or technical issues.
Job Roles:/Responsibilities
Duty 1: Works collaboratively with team members and informs leadership of all events about the operations of assigned applications and assigned projects.
Duty 2: Under the direction of the SHI, TL, or Director, can communicate user needs and problems and determine the feasibility of solutions, using clinical knowledge and hospital experience to assist in supporting clinical applications.
Duty 3: Analyze business/clinical needs and requirements for the Epic application to gain approval from Senior Health Informaticists or the Team Lead.
Duty 4: Gather information and evaluate the operational workflow applied to the system.
Duty 5: Create system specifications from user requirements and maintain current detailed system documentation for assigned applications.
Duty 6: Team partnership: Coordinate workflow documentation and integration with other applications, collaborating with key stakeholders and operational subject matter experts.
Duty 7: Active participant in Epic application-specific clinicians' workgroup.
Duty 8: Continually looks for opportunities for improvement in day-to-day workflow. Brings ideas forward for approvals for new or optimized standard operating practices, adhering to the best practices of MHS Health Informatics as assigned.
Duty 9: Manage many tasks at one time, balancing priorities, deadlines, and time. Personally complete all aspects of a project in a reliable, accurate, and timely manner. Reports and helps to establish priorities of projects for the application team in conjunction with the SHI, TL, Manager, Director, and VP.
Duty 10: Assesses, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates clinical workflow and business processes to define technology needs. Makes recommendations to Department Leadership.
Duty 11: Assist with determining how a new system, upgrade, or new component can best meet the needs of the users.
Duty 12: Participate in the planning and implementation of system infrastructure changes (change control, system upgrades, copy/restore events, application of service packs, downtimes, and training).
Duty 13: Participates in integrated testing; develops test scripts, coordinates the setup of the testing environment, executes testing scripts, identifies issues, and coordinates issue resolution.
Duty 14: Performs or ensures system maintenance and testing is complete for requested changes, and for all updates/new releases for all assigned applications.
Duty 15: May be asked to present demonstrations of build and new functionalities within applications to peers, end users, and leaders.
Duty 16: Adheres to the deployment of changes and readiness in support of work and/or training efforts following defined MHS Change Control workflows.
Duty 17: Communicate the deployment for new builds, changes, upgrade features, and/or training for our clinicians.
Duty 18: Monitor and work assigned incidents to resolution. Initiates and coordinates troubleshooting with team members and peers for known issues and provides timely, effective, and professional customer support.
Duty 19: Provide application troubleshooting support in Cherwell. Resolve the issue or forward it to the correct group for remediation.
Duty 20: Perform regular on-call rotation and coverage as assigned.
Duty 21: Accountable for your performance. Continually assesses their own education needs regarding technology solutions. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education for self.
Duty 22: Perform all other related duties as assigned
Duty 23: Duties for Epic Build Teams may be different than those of the Epic Training Teams as related to direct build or training.
