Job Summary The Health Equity Specialist is the internal and external resource and coordinator to ensure diverse populations of people are effectively served by and connected to Novant Health. The Health Equity Specialist will work collaboratively with the Health Equity & Community Health team and other areas to embed processes that support health equity, community health, and community benefit particularly as it relates to serving our team members and community members from underserved and under-represented populations. The person in this position must have an ability to utilize non-traditional strategies to achieve outcomes. Qualifications Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Human Services, or related field, required. Experience: Five years in community based work, health care or related setting, required. Additional Skills (required): Strong written and verbal communication skills; general computer knowledge; ability to self-direct, manage time and resources; ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently; ability to function within a high-performing team. Basic knowledge of high reliability principles, healthcare operations (clinical and business), cultural competence and quality improvement methodology. Knowledge of risk management principles and issues regarding cultural competence Superior interpersonal skills. Outgoing personality with the ability to relate to a wide variety of people at all levels of authority; ability to exercise good judgment in stressful situations and deadline-oriented; self-motivated; must interact in a respectful manner. Strong leadership qualities (i.e. management, organizational, analytical, and relationship development) Effective communication with empathy and compassion Ability to identify opportunities and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives Understanding of change management Innovative, self-motivated and strong critical-thinking skills Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, EPIC, Community Benefit documentation platforms and social resource platforms Job Opening ID 105096
