Health and Safety Coordinator
Description We are looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team on a contract basis in Youngstown, Ohio. In this role, you will take the lead in developing and managing health and safety initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This position is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to drive safety improvements and foster a culture of accountability within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety program tailored to the organization’s needs. • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify risks and recommend effective safety measures. • Oversee plant safety performance by tracking metrics, managing injury reports, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. • Facilitate safety training sessions on topics such as Lockout/Tagout procedures, forklift operation, and equipment use. • Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. • Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). • Collaborate with supervisors and the Health & Safety Committee to provide ongoing safety education and guidance. • Administer Worker's Compensation claims and manage return-to-work programs. • Lead internal and external health and safety audits to ensure compliance with regulations. • Stay informed about legislative updates and adapt safety programs accordingly. Requirements • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety Management or a related field. • A minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for candidates with four years of experience. • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and environmental health regulations. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to facilitate training sessions. • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively. • Results-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement. • Familiarity with conducting safety audits and implementing corrective actions.
