Job Description

Job Purpose

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, implement HSE policies and procedures, and promote a culture of safety within the hydraulic manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development and ImplementationDevelop and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and programs specific to hydraulic manufacturing operations.Conduct regular reviews of policies to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.Risk Assessment and ManagementIdentify potential hazards associated with hydraulic manufacturing processes (e.g., high-pressure systems, hydraulic fluids, heavy machinery).Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate risks.Compliance and AuditsEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections of machinery, processes, and workplace conditions.Reporting and DocumentationMaintain accurate records of HSE incidents, training, audits, and inspections.Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.Training and AwarenessProvide HSE training to employees, including safe handling of hydraulic equipment, chemical safety, and emergency response.Promote a culture of safety through regular communication and awareness campaigns.Incident InvestigationInvestigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents.Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.Emergency PreparednessDevelop and maintain emergency response plans for scenarios such as chemical spills, fires, and machinery malfunctions.Conduct regular drills to ensure readiness.Coordinate with waste management contractorEnvironmental ManagementMonitor and handle waste disposal, emissions, and spill prevention in line with environmental regulations.Promote sustainable practices in the facility.Equipment SafetyEnsure that all hydraulic equipment and machinery are maintained and operated safely.Oversee the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce its proper use.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve HSE performance.Implement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

Work Environment

Exposure to a manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, hydraulic systems, and potentially hazardous substances.May require occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and wearing PPE.This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasksTime will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floorWork closely with managers, supervisors, office staff and plant personnel

QualificationsDegree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, preferred or 8 years of commensurate experience in lieu of the degree2-4 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role, ideally in manufacturing or a similar industrial setting.Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or ISO14001 & 45001 are highly desirable.Good speaking, reading and writing, in English, Spanish a plus.Knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated risks.Understanding of HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.

 

Additional Information

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range is between $80k- $88k. The range is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. The Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range during the interview process.
