Job Description

The Head of Strategic Pricing at AbbVie is a pivotal role within the Value & Access leadership team, responsible for overseeing payer-related pricing and contracting strategies to optimise AbbVie's portfolio while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role involves leading a team to conduct key pricing analyses, developing innovative pricing models, and collaborating with Value & Access leads to formulate pricing strategies for pipeline planning and new product launches. The position requires extensive experience in market access and pricing, ideally within the Australian & New Zealand pharmaceutical industry, along with skills in strategic and analytical thinking.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Lead team of Strategic pricing managers to run key analyses including price-volume trade-off, financial impact of pricing policies, and reporting. Coach team to go beyond pricing analyses to provide data-driven insights, build innovative pricing models, and provide clear pricing recommendations to Access & Value teams.Collaborate with Value & Access leads to develop pricing strategies for pipeline planning, new product launches, pricing maintenance and defense, and asset cross-indication price optimisation in alignment with Global pricing guidance and in consideration of local market factors.In collaboration with Value & Access leads, lead Alternative Access Program (AAP) design through understanding of operational considerations, willingness to pay evidence (in-market data analytics and/or market research), and private healthcare environmentAs a member of the Value & Access leadership team, build and implement work plan to understand future payers and associated pricing, reimbursement and access capability needs.Oversee team to maintain vigilance on movements of competitor pricing and pricing regulations to ensure AbbVie is competitively positioned while ensuring internally and externally compliant pricing practices Monitor health care and payer policy environment for price implications, work with Australian industry groups and liaise with Global on key projects related to pricing. Develop AbbVie’s positions regarding pricing policy.Oversee provision of pricing-related assumptions for financial planning cycles.Develop and operationalise internal pricing guidance, policies and procedures including AbbVie Global and Area internal reporting obligation, price approval SOPs and management of the Global pricing database. Oversee process for prices changes for AbbVie’s marketed products and coordinating communication to payers. Lead senior management pricing governance alignment on pricing decisions having cross-therapeutic and cross-functional implications.Establish and nurture positive working relationships with our internal functions and AbbVie Global and Area offices.Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie’s policies and proceduresProactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all timesAdhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processesOther ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Science, Health Sciences or Business; Masters degree strongly preferredExtensive of experience in a similar position, with market access and pricing expertise in the Australian & New Zealand pharmaceutical industryPrevious experience leading high performing teams including recruiting candidates and hiring, performance management and career developmentAdditional commercial/business background, knowledge of health economic principles and direct experience negotiating with payers strongly preferredStrong understanding of the Australian and New Zealand private healthcare system is desired.Sees the “big picture” by bringing together different ideas, information and data points. Pioneering mindset to develop creative and out-of-the-box thinking to drive innovative pricing modelsStrong strategic & analytical thinking: ability to understand, synthetise and communicate complex concepts and outcomes and distil into clear executive-level story-telling; coaches team to do the same.Elevates organizational capabilities through coaching, sharing best practices, and raising the barCoach team to go beyond the numbers to drive insight-driven recommendations.Proven ability to work within a cross-functional team and within a large organisationAbility to adapt to evolving customer needs/demands within a changing environmentExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict constructively.Expertise in analytics/business insights, financial modelling and building strong business cases.
