Qualification:

B.Sc. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university; an advanced degree is advantageous. Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is preferable.

Experience:

Minimum 15 years’ experience in rotating engineering design within the Oil & Gas industry, with an operator or contractor/consultant. At least 10 of these years must be in offshore Oil & Gas processing projects. Of the 15 years, at least 8 years must have been spent as a Senior Rotating Engineer on major projects, and at least 7 years as a Lead Discipline Engineer in reputable engineering consultancies, EPIC contractors, or Oil & Gas companies. Fully familiar with international design codes, standards, and relevant engineering practices. Fully familiar with mechanical engineering software and design review processes. Knowledgeable in EPIC deliverables, equipment specifications, and construction progress reviews. Proven ability to manage a discipline engineering team within major project environments. Strong technical base at a “proficient” or “mastery” level, with additional capability across other engineering disciplines. Strong technical, planning, communication, reporting, and leadership skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and manage rotating equipment engineering input into the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore facilities, ensuring successful execution within schedule, budget, and agreed specifications. Accountable for the technical integrity of rotating equipment engineering and design activities, ensuring safe, cost-efficient, and timely deliverables. Provide leadership and direction for all rotating equipment engineering services including design basis development, EPIC scope preparation, design and safety reviews, equipment procurement, vendor assessments, and resolution of technical issues. Serve as the project’s technical expert (TA-2) for rotating equipment, with authority to approve certain technical deviations within delegated limits, escalating when needed. Provide technical justification and recommendations for deviations to the Engineering Manager, who holds final approval authority. Ensure all proposed deviations are investigated, maintain safety, improve operability and availability, and reduce cost without impacting delivery timelines. Ensure associated risks are ALARP and appropriately documented. Lead development of rotating equipment design scope and ensure all deliverables are compliant with codes, standards, project requirements, and corporate procedures. Coordinate all engineering reviews including design reviews, ENVID, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, Bowties, ALARP, SAFOP, SIMOPS, 3D model reviews, and constructability reviews. Manage discipline interfaces across all project phases and guide contractor design efforts with respect to safety, start-up, cost, and constructability impacts. Maintain professional working relationships with contractors and provide technical clarification and interpretation of scope, specifications, and standards. Monitor project rotating equipment resources and highlight critical needs to project management. Participate in assurance reviews and audits, ensuring findings are properly closed. Provide technical input for EPIC tender preparation, procurement activities, technical bid evaluations, and contractor technical queries. Evaluate rotating equipment technologies, field devices, and systems for project use, ensuring optimal techno?economic solutions. Endorse rotating design calculations, studies, philosophies, software models, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation. Provide guidance during engineering stages and ensure QA/QC processes meet project expectations. Support and facilitate safety and design reviews in coordination with other discipline leads.
