About the Role 
We are seeking a senior manager who can connect PMI’s global leaf strategy with field-level realities across the Africa Cluster. You will ensure that the region consistently delivers reliable, high-quality and sustainably sourced tobacco by overseeing key elements of the leaf lifecycle – including agronomy programs, sustainability deployment, supplier performance, processing requirements, and commercial execution. 

In this role, you will coordinate forecasting, buying activities, agricultural initiatives, and supplier development across multiple origins, ensuring strong alignments with PMI’s global and regional priorities. You will monitor shifts in crop conditions, supply dynamics, and regulatory environments, translating these into clear operational plans.  

You will work closely with both global stakeholders and local teams, strengthening supplier ecosystems while developing capabilities on the ground. This role requires practical leadership, solid business judgment, and the ability to deliver consistent results in complex, multi-country environments.  
 
What You’ll Be Responsible For

-Implement cluster-level leaf strategies aligned with global and regional priorities.

- Manage volume, quality, and cost forecasts to support consistent planning. 

- Contribute to procurement activities and commercial decision-making.

- Coordinate agronomy and sustainability initiatives across sourcing origins. 

- Provide guidance on processing requirements and support technology improvements.

- Maintain effective collaboration with global, regional, and local stakeholders.

- Support capability building and talent development within the cluster team. 
 
Who We’re Looking For 
 

Education: 
- University degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field. 
 
Experience: 
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Leaf, Agronomy, Agricultural Supply Chain, or crop-based procurement, with at least 5 years directly in the leaf business (buying, agronomy, processing, or sustainability). 

 
- Proven experience managing multi-country or cluster-level operations, ideally within emerging markets. 

- Strong background in supplier-facing work, including negotiations, contracting, capability building, and performance management. 

- Solid understanding of leaf quality, processing basics, crop cycles, sustainability standards, and supply risk drivers. 

- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution and operate effectively in complex, fast-changing environments.  

- Strong stakeholder skills, with experience working across global and regional functions. 

- Leadership mindset with a track record of developing teams and strengthening technical capabilities
