Our Opening and Your ResponsibilitiesIn our AutoChem business unit, we develop synthesis, sampling and reaction analysis tools for scientists in pharmaceutical and chemical industries. We provide scientists the information they need to deliver life-changing products. Join our team as the Head of Hardware R&D Switzerland 100% (all genders) in the AutoChem Zurich site (Nänikon-Greifensee) and support the fast-growing business opportunity within our unit. 
In this role, your will be responsible for the following tasks: You provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of mechanical, electrical, embedded software, system, and manufacturing engineers to deliver innovative and high-quality product solutionsYou work collaboratively as a team member of a cross-functional organization, including project managers, product owners, software developers, testers, service, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams, to analyze complex problems and help identify creative, logical, and effective solutions to deliver projects on time and within budgetAs a member of the Global R&D Management Team, you ensure effective global collaboration and define and drive the implementation of R&D strategiesYou foster a collaborative and innovative environment by promoting and supporting personal, team, and organizational development objectivesYou promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality across processes and products.You effectively communicate project status and progress against milestones to key stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignmentYou collaborate closely with Product Management groups to reconcile market requirements with technical product specificationsYou work closely with Operations and Service to ensure the smooth transition of newly developed products into productionYou support Maintenance of Line activities to ensure business continuity and continuous improvement of commercial product linesYou utilize formal project management tools and a structured product development process, developing, promoting, and enforcing compliant, robust, and pragmatic product development processes and proceduresYou engage with sales and marketing teams to meet with external customers, discuss future product needs, and assist in the development of product specifications.You support strategic and business development efforts for the business unit to contribute to overall successYou manage formal staff development and appraisal procedures to nurture team talent.You prepare for some domestic and international travel to METTLER TOLEDO locations and customer sites as requiredWhat You Need to SucceedFollowing requirements are necessary for this role: You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferredYou have five (5) years or more of experience with product development of analytical instrumentation or possess an equivalent combination of education and experienceYou have three (3) years or more of supervisory experience managing internal and external resourcesYou demonstrate strong project management and organizational skillsYou have proven abilities in product design and development of commercially successful productsYou are experienced with mechanical, electrical CAD, and PLM software; experience with Teamcenter is a plusYou have familiarity with Engineering Change Management systems and processesYou possess hands-on knowledge of analytical electro-mechanical instrumentation and understand the related key mechatronics disciplines and best practices, including DfX principlesYou exhibit strong analytical problem-solving skillsYou have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsYou are willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10% of the timeYou are proficient in English, and knowledge of German is a plusOur Offer to YouWe offer:Flexible working hours (depending on the role), a hybrid work model, and a wide portfolio of training opportunitiesA 40-hour work week with at least 25 vacation days per year, plus 4 to 7 additional days off between bank holidaysFree parking and direct access to public transportHealthy lunches cooked onsite at our own METTLER TOLEDO restaurant, with special prices for employees A range of additional attractive benefits, including employee discounts at select area businessesYou can expect challenging, interesting, and varied tasks in an innovative and international environment, with the opportunity to network globally and achieve your career goals.
