We are seeking a technology executive who will contribute to the success of our technology initiatives in our digital transformation and modernization journey. **THE ROLE** We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our team as the Head of Fintech Partnerships and Investments. This senior role will be instrumental in identifying, cultivating, and managing strategic partnerships with fintech companies, startups, and innovators to accelerate our digital agenda. Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer, you will lead new partnerships and investments in emerging technologies, drive collaborative initiatives, and ensure alignment with the bank’s overall business strategy. You will collaborate closely with teams across corporate development, digital, technology, risk, compliance, and business units to execute high-impact deals and integrate fintech capabilities seamlessly. This is a high-visibility position that requires a blend of financial acumen, deal-making expertise, and innovative thinking to position U.S. Bank as a leader in the fintech ecosystem. The Fintech Partnership and Investment executive will plan, design, control and own all operational aspects of the Fintech Acceleration Team. At U.S. Bank, the Fintech Acceleration team is responsible for managing the discovery, curation, and engagement of Financial Technology (FinTech) partnerships and investments and all associated compliance and reporting. This leader will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the right strategic partners are effectively found, projects are efficiently executed, and the right opportunities are advanced and reported on so that our fintech strategy is positioned to lead it into the future. They will guide the fintech strategy and objectives by assessing business needs and external trends, investment landscape and consumer shifts, while overseeing the discovery, curation and engagement of fintech partnerships and investments. Ultimately, this executive will manage all aspects of fintech engagement, strategy, sourcing, partnerships, legal, investment and business development. This typically includes managing high-profit potential fintechs and strategies that are critical to business success. Lastly, they are responsible for products and assignments of the highest complexity and technological scope. **RESPONSIBILITIES** + Performs at a highly independent and matrixed level to achieve FinTech Acceleration milestones. + Applies expert-level knowledge of professional concepts and established technologies, while understanding consumer trends and markets – advanced knowledge and experience researching trends, topics and companies. + Involved in extensive analysis, due diligence, project management, and use of CRM tools (reporting and performing data analysis). + Intensive experience collaborating with large teams using effective and succinct communication. This leader will have a significant latitude to make decisions and act, and decisions made are typically only subject to review by senior management. + Executive will have opportunities to affect a substantial portion of revenue or expenses, substantial loss of a production or service, or substantial monetary loss with negative impact on goals. + Extensive experience developing business cases in new or advanced product lines. Leader requires broad understanding and practical application of applicable laws and regulations. + Identify and work as needed on investment opportunities working alongside Corporate Development and the business lines. + Take a portfolio approach to manage fintech partnerships across all business lines and functional areas. + Keep abreast of trends in relevant landscapes and adjacent industries to identify potential opportunities or challenges before they become mainstream. + Build strong relationships with external partners to help us advance and mature the fintech engagement practice at U.S. Bank. + Collaborate with fintech peers across business lines to ensure efficient execution of fintech projects and serve as a point of escalation for any issues. + Work closely with our most senior executives to understand their strategic needs and priorities, being able to turn those into communication tools and marketing collaterals to effectively communicate externally and internally. + The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days. + Able and willing to travel domestically; 25-30. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; or equivalent experience. + 8+ years in fintech, venture capital, corporate development, or strategic partnerships within financial services, technology, or consulting firms. Proven track record of closing deals and managing investments in a fast-paced environment. + Expert in research, discovery, and evaluation of companies that fit with our strategic needs. + Able to articulate fintech trends and their potential implication to U.S. Bank’s leadership. + Attention to detail and deadlines, managing all the necessary portfolio reporting and tracking for all fintech engagements across the bank. + Be able to negotiate, document and manage complex fintech projects, bringing them in on time, in scope and on budget. + Proven ability to communicate at an executive level, able to articulate complex technical and financial solutions concisely and simply, ability to represent the U.S. Bank Innovation team externally at industry events. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + MBA or advanced degree preferred. + Deep understanding of fintech trends, ecosystems, and technologies (e.g., APIs, open banking, Blockchain, DeFi, regtech and AI). + Strong negotiation, deal structuring, and financial modeling skills. + Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience influencing C-suite executives and external partners. + Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a matrixed organization. + Proficiency in data analysis tools CB Insight and familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). + Proficiency in prompting with AI tools. + Leadership experience in building and motivating teams. + Entrepreneurial spirit, results-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about innovation.
