**Job Description**
**PURPOSE**
Lead the strategy, design, and execution of Takeda’s affordability programs to improve eligible patient access and support sustainable brand growth. This role is accountable for **developing innovative commercial insurance projects for targeted brands** and for **driving Takeda brands’ adoption by commercial health insurance products** , working in close partnership with central and regional Market Access, Brand Teams, Medical, Legal/Compliance, Finance, and external partners.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**1) Affordability & Innovative Commercial Insurance Project Strategy and Delivery**
+ Define the **affordability strategy** across targeted brands, aligned to Takeda’s patient-first principles, market access strategy, and brand objectives.
+ Lead end-to-end **innovative commercial insurance project design and optimization** , including:
+ eligibility criteria and patient journey
+ application/enrollment processes and documentation standards
+ benefit structure (e.g., co-pay support, bridge support where appropriate)
+ service model (in-house vs. vendor), operating SOPs, and governance
+ Ensure related projects are built with **clear medical, ethical, legal, and compliance guardrails** , including transparent communications and audit-ready documentation.
+ Establish **program governance** : decision rights, budget controls, approvals, issue escalation, and periodic program review.
**2) Commercial Health Insurance Adoption & Access Enablement**
+ Develop and execute strategies to **increase inclusion/adoption** of Takeda targeted brands in **commercial health insurance products** , in collaboration with Market Access and Brand teams.
+ Support negotiations and implementation planning with insurers and relevant stakeholders.
**3) Monitor commercial insurance policy trends and market dynamics** and translate insights into actionable access and affordability plans.
+ Monitor private insurance policy and market trends
+ Support IDL listing of targeted brands
**4) Analytics, Performance Management, and Continuous Improvement**
+ Define and track **KPIs** (coverage, utilization etc).
+ Build dashboards and business reviews for leadership; identify risks and implement corrective actions.
+ Drive continuous improvement through **process redesign, digitization** , and simplification of internal process and external project design.
**Leadership & People Management**
+ Build and lead a high-performing affordability solutions team.
+ Coach and develop team capability in program design, payer engagement support, vendor management, and analytics.
+ Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ethical decision-making.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Level of Education**
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
**Working Experience in Relevant Field**
Over 10 years of experience in commercial insurance/ affoardability solution within the pharmaceutical industry.
**Professional Knowledge and Skills**
+ Proven track record designing and scaling **PAPs/copay or similar affordability programs** and working with external vendors under SLAs.
+ Understanding of **commercial health insurance product mechanics** and stakeholder decision-making: working experience in commercial health insurance company is preferred.
+ Strong grasp of compliance and data privacy expectations.
+ Strong project/program management skills; ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
